Announcing Shield Attending Gitcoin Hackathon GR12

Join Shield workshop taking place at 12 pm EST on December 3rd!

Shield is positioned as a decentralized derivatives infrastructure and users will be able to trade various derivatives products developed on top of it, including perpetual options, perpetual swaps, and structure products. Now we’re one step closer to the mission- partner with Gitcoin to launch bounty for structured products built on Shield protocol.

Gitcoin is a community of builders, creators, and protocols at the center of the open web ecosystem. So far the platform has $39,9M funded to open source, 312K monthly active developers, and 1.92K projects created. More importantly, Gitcoin’s biggest quarterly event is kicking off on December 1st and running through December 16th, 2021 and Shield will be attending.

Key challenge

1 — Build structured product on top of Shield protocol

The derivatives market is known as highly risky and complex. How to service such retail traders in crypto when they access these sophisticated derivatives products has been one of the Shield’s initiatives to start the journey. Structured products enable non-professional users to earn yield in a simple manner and Shield protocol is the ideal tool to build. Take Ribbon as an example, they utilized automated options strategies to generate yield for users and bring strong liquidity to OPYN protocol. We’re excited to see your answer.

2 — Marketing

We’re seeking more Shielders to expand the Shield ecosystem. Anything that focuses on explaining Shield and how it works, as well as spreading the word to the community is welcomed. This might vary from design, Shield meme to content creation, Youtube video, etc.

Submission requirements

• All submissions, including code, must be open-source for the community reference and future use cases, and links must be included in the Github repo submission.
• We’ll need a demo of the submission, in the best-case scenario: Explainer & Walkthrough Video

Judging criteria

Prizes will be given to individuals who deliver the best solution while aligning to the challenge description. Each application will be evaluated on its own merits, with a minimum standard of quality and features provided. Work must be of sufficient quality and meet the judge’s expectations in order to receive a prize. Any/all awards are subject to final approval by the Shield team.

Winner announcement date

Shield will evaluate all submissions until the end of Gitcoin12 Hackathon. All winners will be announced and paid out at once.
